Search it up!

So, like most in the news room, searching the internet is a daily occurrence, be it looking for story ideas, checking facts, browsing Wookieepedia for the last known whereabouts of Admiral Traest Kre’fey (last seen in the Battle of Kashyyk in the Second Galactic Civil War around 40 “ABY” or 40 years after Luke destroyed the first Death Star outside of the planet Yavin 4) …yes, I knew that offhand and don’t ask why.

So, it’s hard to really decided what search system to use when in need of information. Does one choose Google, Yahoo, Dog Pile? Well, for most of my life Google has been the standard search for me. I even use the word “Google” when talking about “googling” on Google. But last week I had a dream, and I really wish this hadn’t happened this way because it sounds oh so lame.

In my dream I was at an auto press conference. Yes, I dream about auto press conferences. And at this particular show the sound was being demonstrated by a Kiss cover band, make up, platform boots, leather and all. And at one point they asked if anyone wanted to be made up Kiss style and then come perform on stage to some Kiss “ClassLicks” and I shot up my hand in pride (first off, before that statement gets analyzed too much, I, in fact, do not have pride in my fondness for Kiss. I am, in fact, ashamed of it, unless World Without Heroes is playing. Then I will sing every word. SOOOO….I get all excided about being able to play drums and be the one and only Peter Criss…WAIT!!!! Yes I WANTED to be Peter Criss…no one wants to BE Peter Criss…yet in my dream I wanted to be Peter “Cat-Man” Criss).

I was not picked to be made into Peter Criss, and thus I woke up. I was furious! Not because I wasn’t chosen to live out the stage life of The Cat-Man but mostly because I had a dream where I wanted to BE THE CAT-MAN! Sad…even for myself.

So all day, it just lingered in my head WHY!!!!! So I started to look at all things Kiss, in search for some answers. And oddly enough I stumbled on something so attractive (yes I’m speaking of attractiveness and the band Kiss in the same sentence) I had to share it with the world.

It’s called Search With Kiss, and with the simple act of searching on their website you earn Swag Bucks, points you can redeem to get prizes; both Kiss and non-Kiss related prizes. Good stuff, too! iPods and Star Wars Lego Sets, even a real drum set so you too can play dress up like Peter Criss!

It’s not a bad search site; my only beef is the lack of auto suggest on the site. But, the plus is if you aren’t quite sure the correct spelling of Traest Kre’fey, give it a shot anyways. If you mix up and had “Ker’fey” it gives you a “Did you mean” and that counts and another search meaning another chance to get some Swag!
