I’ve touched on the puny rosters of the recent WWE games before, but thankfully the create-a-wrestler has stayed strong and been updated progressively over the years. They’ve been beefed up so much that tweaks and adjustments can take hours to finalize your wrestler. You can even take it to a new extreme and recreate any wrestler from wrestling’s extensive past! Well any wrestler besides a certain Canadian… no comment.
Fortunately for us, those hours recreating “Macho Man” Randy Savage are cut in half due to the internet and the enormous amount of free time people seem to have. CAWs have grown to something bigger than just a personal wrestler to call your own. Modern day artists (a.k.a. wrestling fanboys with too much free time) have created some of the greats via Create-a-Wrestler on Smackdown vs Raw 2008! You can find just about anyone from “The Franchise” Shane Douglas to pre ECW “LionHeart” Chris Jericho! And they look pretty dead-on too, even some comic book and anime superheroes are recreated!
But this wouldn’t be a very good blog if I didn’t give you my favorite website to find these oh-so-good creations you can recreate on your copy SVR 2009. My favorite site to find CAWs is caws.ws! They have a great selection of CAWs for all Smackdown titles and a great search engine to boot. Plus 90% of the CAWs on the website have pictures, which help when you think you’re lost.
But be warned, some of these CAWs do suck out loud but sometimes you have to work with what you got! Luckily the rating system does help filter out some of the trash, but once and a while you’ll see a 9.2/10 on that Papa Shango CAW and notice his face paint isn’t nearly as good as yours!
